There are various dream herbs that I have tried at this point... probably I've tried most that are on the market.
The main "cheat" is Galantamine (which I do have if you want some), but it is a very powerful drug (from an herb), and so I have also been looking for something a bit milder that would still be effective. 5-HTP works well for many people, tho not for me.
So far, I had one good experience from entada rheedii extract. Looks like other customers also had their best experience with it the first time.
I had profoundly vivid, blissful dreams from multiple days of dosing fermented sarsaparilla root bark (basically an ethanol extract), with extreme sexual excitation upon awakening on the 3rd day as the "side effect."
But whatever you use to aid you, the main thing is to take the supplement at the right time. The time to take it is not before bed. Instead, wake up about 2-3 hours before you need to, take the herb, then meditate on your breath for an hour or two and go back to sleep with the intention of consciously entering a dream. Then when you are lucid in the dream, go back to meditation as per my cosmic consciousness dream blog entry.
This guy on reddit also has a posture hack somewhat similar to my advice for consistent lucid dreaming: https://www.reddit.com/r/LucidDreaming/comments/1gi2mk/one_simple_change_has_given_me_lds_pretty_much_at/
