Something strange is happening. I just discovered that in the past 4 days, most of my shipments have been untrackable by USPS' website. And a few shipments from a week ago are now listed as "arriving late."
I don't know if this is related to USPS in general or if it's related to my business. Regardless, it seems that there is not much point in trying to ship things at this moment until things are figured out here. Certainly, other folks are reporting issues with USPS in recent days. [UPDATE] as of Oct 9th, it seems the packages are moving thru the system again with tracking. I'm going to cautiously begin shipping low value things again to anyone who is willing to maybe deal with USPS delays. [NEXT UPDATE] Oct. 10th: I found the USPS worker outside collecting the mail and asked him what was going on. He said that they have been short-staffed and it is possible they had mail sitting in a pile somewhere that they had not gotten to in a timely fashion.

That's so ridiculous. I don't know if it's a southern thing or just the times; 20 years ago in NYS mail was prompt and weather didn't stop it; down in current NC mail is sad unless you luck out.

USPS is federal & you would have to be extremely naive to believe this short staff bullshit they are peddling.

USPS is Federal indeed, and it's now $80bn in the hole, losing more billions of dollars every year and getting worse service every year also. http://www.postal-reporter.com/blog/usps-union-agree-retention-issues-leads-to-short-staffing-and-delivery-challenges-in-northern-california/ that's just one article from 2016 but there are tons.
